Chairman Harold Swift receives a MBE

Harold Swift was recently awarded the MBE for his services to amateur Rugby League.  He was a founder member of the British Amateur Rugby League Association in 1973 and has served on the Association’s Board of Management in each of the subsequent 32 years. Mr Swift is chairman of one of the sport’s most famous amateur clubs, Blackbrook in St Helens, which has produced many players for the professional game, as well as being chairman of the St Helens Amateur Rugby League.

Mr Swift also helped create Rugby League history when he was appointed as the team manager for the first ever BARLA touring team that visited Australia, New Zealand and, Papua New Guinea in 1975. He becomes the first inductee from amateur Rugby League.
